# Rocky Mountain Nordic Week: 7-Day Cross-Country Ski Camp in Canmore, Alberta Spend one unforgettable week cross-country skiing in the heart of the Canadian Rockies. This 7-day camp is designed for recreational skiers who want a real mountain experience: daily coached sessions, beautiful groomed trails, technique improvement, cozy lodging, and relaxed evenings in one of North America’s most scenic winter towns. The camp takes place in Canmore, Alberta, near the Canmore Nordic Centre, a former 1988 Winter Olympic venue with groomed trails for classic and skate skiing. The area is known for world-class Nordic skiing, mountain views, and easy access from Calgary International Airport. ## Who This Camp Is For This camp is ideal for adults 18+, including active seniors. Recommended levels: - Beginner Plus: you have tried cross-country skiing and can move on flat terrain. - Intermediate: you can ski for 60-90 minutes and want better technique. - Advanced Recreational: you ski regularly and want longer sessions and video feedback. Both classic and skate skiers are welcome. Groups are divided by fitness level, experience, and preferred technique. ## Day 1: Arrival in Canmore Arrive in Canmore, check in at the hotel, and meet the coaches. In the evening, we host a welcome dinner and orientation. Beginner-plus groups ski a shorter scenic loop. Intermediate and advanced groups ski a longer rolling route with coaching stops. Focus: - Pacing - Breathing - Efficient technique under fatigue - Staying warm - Fueling during winter training Evening: - Casual social night in Canmore ## Day 5: Skills, Speed, and Video Feedback Morning session: - Technique transitions - Short accelerations - Stride rhythm - Skiing smoother, not just harder Afternoon: - Video analysis with the coaching team - Individual technique notes - Optional free time in town Evening: - Coach Q&A and relaxed group meal ## Day 6: Mountain Challenge Day This is the signature day of the camp. Each group completes a personal challenge route matched to its level. For some skiers, that may be a beautiful 6-8 mile ski. For others, it may be a longer 12-18 mile route with climbs, descents, and steady endurance work. The goal is not racing. The goal is to finish the week feeling stronger, smoother, and proud. Evening: - Farewell dinner - Camp awards - Final group photo ## Day 7: Departure Day Enjoy breakfast, check out, and depart for Calgary International Airport. If your flight leaves later, you may have time for one last easy ski, a walk along the Bow River, or brunch in downtown Canmore. ## Accommodation Participants stay in comfortable mountain-style hotels or condo-style lodges in Canmore.
